Phone Consultation

I know how important it is to feel comfortable with your therapist, so I offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your goals and how I can help. If I do not feel I’m able to help with your current goals, I will provide you with a list of referrals to therapists that may be a better fit for you.

Assessment

Once we know we’re a good match for one another, we will schedule an intake assessment. These take 60 minutes, and are designed to help me to better understand the problem you’re experiencing, along with the biological, psychological, and social factors that may be maintaining the problem. During this meeting I will ask you questions about what you’re wanting to work on in treatment, the history of the problem you are experiencing, in addition to background questions about your prior mental health history, medical diagnoses, reproductive health history, and social support. I will also ask you to complete a few questionnaires prior to this appointment. These are all key to treatment planning.

Therapy

Therapy sessions are typically scheduled weekly or bi-weekly. Treatment duration will be based on your treatment goals, and progress toward these goals. Therapy may be brief (up to 16 sessions), moderate (16-24 sessions), or long term (24+ sessions). I also often recommend home-practice of certain skills you’re working on in therapy.

Treatment Approach

My therapy style is one that is warm and collaborative. From the start of treatment, I encourage you to develop goals that we can actively, and mindfully work towards. I am trained in multiple evidence-based therapies, and select treatment based on your goals, preferences, and what we think may be maintaining certain difficulties in your life. Treatment may consist of:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy

  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy

  • Imagery Rehearsal Therapy

Peer Consultation & Supervision

I am available for professional training and consultation in the areas of reproductive health psychology and behavioral sleep medicine. Consultation can be a one-time meeting, or an ongoing weekly or monthly meeting where we work to improve your case conceptualization skills and the application of CBT and third-wave therapies to these specific populations.

I am also available to provide group trainings and workshops on the delivery of CBT-I. As an Assistant Professor, I routinely gave grand rounds on the delivery of CBT-I. I also trained psychology residents and fellows and created CE content on diagnosis and treatment of insomnia for Rush University Medical Center.
